Monthly Market Update - January 2025
Despite a dreary December (S&P 500 Index down -2.4%), stock investors had a banner year, up 25.0% for 2024. In a now familiar refrain, rewards were not equally distributed, with the large-cap tech companies known as "The Magnificent Seven" earning 53% of the Index's return for the year. Sector returns fluctuated across the year but ended up with some breadth as seven of the eleven produced double-digit gains.

Monthly Market Update - December 2024
The stock market seemed to breathe a sigh of relief with the end of election uncertainty and responded with a strong upward move. The S&P 500 Index advanced 5.9% in November, taking the year-to-date total to 28.1%. This was the biggest monthly gain of the year. Powering the advance was a consensus that the new administration would be business-friendly with regard to corporate taxes and deregulation.
